the only thing i resent is the $118 tuxedo... what a waaaaste!

sigh... i remember that! though the tuxedo was a waste of moolah.. homecoming senior year was pretty darn fun!

anywho.. since i'm always MIA on xanga.. i thought i'd come back with a BOOM..... aka picture update. i found lotsa recent random pics on the comp. enjoyyyyyyyyyy.

oh by the way.. the song ("josh naal" which means "with energy") is from the pakistani dance at central's ethnic fair... its PUNJABI.. im hooked!!

^maged... what a good sport about being on crutches. by the way i hate the woman in the back. she randomly saw me and asked if i "spoke muslim" and wondered if it's offered at depaul.... sad part is.. she was genuinely curious... so yes, that's why i hate her lol.

so let me describe what happened last night. had night class from 6-9pm. weather was bad, so i kinda hung around the student center with some peeps till about 930-945. i then catch the 1030 train outta union station to westmont. ahmad was supposed to come over for a little.. but that never happened because of my stupid carelessness. so i was on the phone with i dont even REMEMBER who now.. when i get to my car parked in the parking lot at the westmont train station... i back out... slowly.. with caution... and drive a good 15 seconds... seems like the whole town is asleep (it's about 1120pm).. i'm the only one in sight. AND THEN I GET PULLED OVER!!! jeez it was almost exactly like that one scene from harold and kumar hehhe.

you know when you see a police car RIGHT behind you and you think to yourself... 'well.. the cop has to be behind somebody.. it's not like i'm in trouble. laa di daaa...' well, i remembered from my last ticket experience that that's bullshit.. so i give in to this useless battle and pull over. and suddenly turn my lights on because i realize they were off. oops.

to make a long story short, i got "in trouble" for driving with the lights off (FOR 15 SECONDS!!!!), going 14 miles above the speed limit (ON FRIGGEN CASS AVENUE WHEN I'M THE ONLY ONE ON THE ROAD)... and for driving without my license (THE ONE DAY I'M WITHOUT MY WALLET AND ANY I.D.) oh and lets not forget not knowing where the insurance card was (MY DAD'S CAR IS HIS OFFICE... IT'S HARD ENOUGH TO FIND THE PASSENGER SEAT). it wasn't pretty. it wasn't "my" car and my dad himself is overseas right now. it was kind of funny though.. the cop asked exactly where my dad was and i was like shiiiiiiet.. so i tell him... "saudi arabia.. heh"... and he's like HMMMM.. and then he asks what the hell i was doing in the city so late.. and i point to my books.. and tell him i'm a student at depaul.. and lucky me, of ALL POSSIBLE BOOKS, my Arabic grammar book was ontop of the pile. the whole time i'm thinking to myself PLEASE OH PLEASE DO NOT LET HIM THINK I'M A TERRORIST! oh mann.. but anyway, since im not a shady criminal, he let me off with what's called an iBond? lol it's prolly not spelled that way.. but we are in the age of the iPod so it might as well be. it's 2000 bucks if i fail to show up to court and prove that the van is insured.. i freaked out.. but i was later consoled by several friends who convinced me that the 2000 bucks is bogus.. the judge rips it up as soon as you present valid insurance notification. IN THAT CASE WHY THE HELL DO THEY ISSUE A TICKET FEE OF 2000 BUCKS. i hate suburban police.

ahhh.. i was still pretty shaken up for a while though. EVERYTIME my parents go to saudi arabia for hajj... (well for the past 2 years at least) i've managed to score a ticket. and for the stupidest reasons. yay.

today was much better though.. rocked my english paper and bamboozled my calc exam. im suddenly happier.

PICS UPDATE!! I didn't really want to post pics up since... well... how do you condense 334 pics for a place like xanga??? But I figured I'd do it anyway to give y'all a little taste of my trip. I wish I could figure out how to post video too, but that takes too long. ISLAMABAD

Back in KARACHI

^ All the stuff I had to leave behind in Pakistan to make room for the new stuff to go back with me. In that blue bag are all of the sweaters I took for when we went to Northern Pak. Isn't it ironic that I need that stuff more than anything NOW and no one will ever make ANY use of it in 90 degree Karachi weather?? Still a little bitter... Ah well...

^ On the way back home. I was able to sneak back quite a bit of goods (lots and lots of food/sweets, and a tonnnn of DVSs)!!

All in all, after a really long 8 years, I had an amazing trip and don't think I could have spent my 6 weeks of break any better. It's funny.. my last few dreams have been literally "conducted" (I guess that'd be the word) entirely in Urdu. I now think in Urdu. I count in Urdu. I almost answered a teacher of mine in Urdu the other day in classsss..... ohhhh Pakistan how I miss you so. I wish I could show my full album and video footage to you all... but this will have to suffice. Soon all pics at least should be on Ofoto or something like that. Hope you enjoyyyyyyyyyed!!!

so the 12th was my bday.. it was an alright bday. definitely not as exciting as i had hoped it to be, and definitely not as cool as last year's.. but you don't always get what you want, right? i was surprised at how many people didn't remember it!! oh well.. the day was fun, i got to spend it with my siblings minus sumaira (she's in DC right now). seeing my nephew was the greatest. that was actually the highlight of my day.. because nothing else happened. later came john deppe's going away party at night.. and then kavs' grad party..

off to bed now.. quite tired.

AHHHH i keep taking too many gaps in between entries. perhaps i'm just a boring person. by the way i like the new way to do entries... makes so much more sense. anyway what's been up... a ver, a ver... homecoming! (i know, i'm a little behind on things).. pretty eventful. starting from the pep rally, my and somie's skit, bakers square, the carnival and then culver's on fri night... then the pancake breakfast, parade, soccer/football games, petree's, pf chang's, rishi's, the dance and then will's on saturday. the only thing i resent is the $118 tuxedo. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY. i could have done without it... ahhh and so much $$ for just 2 days' worth. didn't even wear it to the dance. at least it came with free shiny black shoes. i miss those shiny shoes. anyway i have yet to get my pictures fully established online (no time whatsoever) but hopefully I'll get to that soon. not really a priority at the moment as most hc pictures are being sent around already anyway.

everyone seems so sad. i'm not gonna get into it, but jeeeeeeeeez when will it END??? went to borders today to get a couple of books (i miss reading for pleasure) and ran into, as always, some central folk. and then i saw solomon gaddam (whom i haven't seen since freshman year spanish II when he was a senior) as he was studying for a microbiology exam for college. looks the same! last saturday i saw some people from butler at the SATs/keyclub convention... evvvveryone looks the same.

u of i app is due this friday. counselor's appt. is thursday. do i do early decision wash U? and if i don't get in then~ fine at least i'll know that i tried the most extreme measures to get in?? decisions, decisions. sometimes i feel like she's not fully cooperating with me.

wow. and somehow they're supposed to write letters of rec for each and every one of their students... i dont' know how they do it, she doesnt know me at ALL!?! speaking of letters of rec... i read senora barcelona's and it was AWESOME. so nice. i can't wait for bulak's. ok time to go start and finish hw... and somehow get some bio and psych studying done as well.

ok i need advice BIG TIME....

do i go on the 8-day europe trip (an awesome travelling experience...i mean come on, its europe)...but at the same time this trip hasn't really been re-finalized yet (it was cancelled, then the parents fought for it...anyway it looks like there will still be a trip to europe going no matter what)
or
the 2-day FBLA competition (looks nice in college apps)...plus i know i can get 1st in the thing i would be doing...

thing is, if i ditch europe, im out $700....so what would you do??? i kinda need an answer by tomorrowmr walsh is waiting

seriously tho i need your advice!!! if youre not a xanga member then LEAVE ME ADVICE IN MY CHATTERBOX!!!!!!

today so far has been HORRIBLE......AAAAAAAAAAAGHH!!!! well i'm sitting at my computer now and its about 1:20PM...yep!!! not at school!!!!!! anyway let me start my story so stop interrupting. i got up late, ~645AM and i realized that i HAD to drive to school today. my parents' arrival flight was to be at 1215PM today, and we needed to have two cars at the airport for them, my sister (also with them), and ALLLLL the luggage coming with them... so my other sister at home told me to drive to school, so i could leave school early after 6th bc she couldn't pick me up, she has grad school classes on tues. so ok i get up late but i have no choice but to drive to school, and i know there will be no spots left...so im relying on that scary dude in the teachers parking lot to just LET ME PARK for about 3 hours. anyway as im going down grant i notice 2 spots on my left, and i got excited so i kept going forward (with the intention of turning around at the end of the street)...and i get to 55th:: Green light:: i make a left turn, and suddenly notice a COP behind me! he follows me all the way until i make a left onto madison...and im just thinkin.."woah theres a cop behind me...he's obviously not after me, i did nothing wrong...give him a break..he's gotta be behind someone's car, etc. etc."...so he puts his siren on! and then i look back at him and he points to me to pull over...so i do...WORDS OF ADVICE: YOU CAN'T MAKE A LEFT TURN ON 55TH UNLESS IT'S A GREEN ARROW

my first ticket ever...and for $75...i wanted to scream at the dude..theyre so mean they just want our $$ to buy jelly. so then i went to the teachers lot and just parked there. when i got out the freaky inspector dude drove by me and started yelling...so I PLEADED for him to just let me park there for a few periods, and i was REJECTED...he still actually has my ID card, now that i think of it....ahhh now i have neither my license nor my id card!! i ended up parking @ belliuomini's (the white bar across from school)..and then pleaded for THIS dude to let me stay there just for a few periods..and he said just this once, otherwise it would be $1,000/year!!! and i found out from otherppl that he was serious about that...what a rip off mannnn... anyway i park and then my sister calls on the cell and says that the flight is delayed until TOMORROW!!!!!!! ALL THAT TROUBLE!!!! so i ended up leaving after 6th anyway (as i am here now at home hehe) just because i needed more time to study for ap us (which i should be doing now hehe) which is pd.7/8. then of course i went to c.bakery and starbucks for lunch, leisurely, then went home...ahhhh now that i think of it, today hasnt been that bad!!

NO! YES IT HAS BEEN BAD I HAVE TO PAY $75!!! AND I DON'T HAVE A LICENSE ANYMORE!! I MISS MY ID CARD TOO
